The Aston Villa loanee is to join Marseille permanently in the summer.

Former Aston Villa defender Jordan Amavi has spoken of his happiness at his current club Marseille and of his failed move to Sevilla in the summer.
Amavi was impressive at the start of his Aston Villa career, but after a serious knee operation and Villa’s relegation he left the club after only two seasons last summer.
He looked set for a move to Sevilla before that deal fell through over concerns regarding his knee. Speaking to Canal FC this week he explained how he felt there was something strange with that failed move, stating:
“I don’t think it had anything to do with my knee, because when I returned to England, I went to London with the Aston Villa doctor, and my knee was fine.
“There was something odd. I think they’d already made their mind up, and that’s that.”

But he went on to declare his happiness at eventually moving to Marseille:
“My move to France was a blessing in disguise.
“I’m now at Marseille, who aren’t just any club. It’s just nice when clubs like that are interested in you.”
After initially signing for the Southern French club as back-up for Patrice Evra he soon became a regular after the now West Ham defender was sacked by the club for kicking one of his own fans.
He has made the position his own during his loan move from Aston Villa and was even called up to the France squad in October for the first time, and will be pushing for a World Cup spot this summer.

On loan at Marseille until the end of the season, the Ligue 1 side have exercised their right to sign him permanently at the end of the campaign.
In December current Aston Villa boss Steve Bruce admitted to the Birmingham Mail that he didn’t want to sell Jordan Amavi in the summer, but had to to ensure Aston Villa fit in with Financial Fair Play rules.
Aston Villa are faring well without him, and are pushing hard for an automatic promotion spot. But there is no doubt having the 23-year-old in hand could have been a big boost for their promotion chances.
