Boubacar Kamara has posted on Instagram that he will ‘bring back a lot of memories’ from Marseille, after signing for Aston Villa.
To the surprise of many, Villa secured his talents from Marseille on a free-transfer, following the end of his contract in June.
Ex-Villa left-back Amavi, who would have seen Kamara first-hand at the Stade Vélodrome, told Kamara in his Instagram post that it has been a ‘good road’ for the player.
Whilst Arsenal defender William Saliba, who is on-loan at the Ligue side and won the Young Player of the Year award, added ‘thanks for everything’.
ASTON VILLA STILL LOOKING FOR MORE DEFENSIVE-MIDFIELD REINFORCEMENTS
The Kamara signing is a statement of intent from Villa, but the fact that it’s a free-transfer, it’s even better.
This allows Villa to splash the cash on another defensive-midfielder because they didn’t have to put a transfer fee on the table for Kamara.
Could that next midfielder come in the form of Yves Bissouma? The Brighton player has had long-standing interest from Villa Park and there are suggestions they want him to join Kamara in B6.
Either way, this is a great start to the summer window for Steven Gerrard because Europe is the minimum target next season.
But, finally, a player of stature, strength and defensive metal is being put into the middle of the park.
