Aston Villa left-back Jordan Amavi has suggested, via the Birmingham Mail, that summer signing Albert Adomah will prove to be a match-winner for the club once he gets up to speed.

Villa signed Adomah from newly-promoted Middlesbrough in the closing stages of the transfer window as Roberto di Matteo looked to add more quality and versatility to his attacking options.

The 28-year-old has not yet had time to make a mark in Birmingham, only making his debut in a substitute cameo appearance in the goalless draw at Ipswich Town last weekend.

However, there is thought to be some hope that he could be fit to play a larger role in the clash with in-form Newcastle United at Villa Park on Saturday evening.

Amavi was quick to stress how impressive the Ghanaian international has looked in training already since his arrival, and believes that the winger has what it takes to be an important difference-maker for the club this season and in the future.

The French left-back said, as quoted by the Birmingham Mail: “It was good to see Albert come on. We work with him every day in training.

“He’s a very good player – quick, sharp, and skilful. He’s going to help us win games in the future.

“There’s now a week until next game so he will have extra time on training field to be ready.”

Villa fans will certainly be hoping that the introduction of Adomah on a regular basis can be a catalyst for increased success this season.

The struggling relegated club desperately need some flashes of individual brilliance to kick-start their campaign, and supporters will be turning to Adomah as one of the most likely candidates.
