Jordan Amavi and Frederic Guilbert reacted on Instagram to Aston Villa signing Morgan Sanson on Tuesday.

The 26-year-old has made the switch from Marseille to the Midlands in what is Villa’s first January capture of the winter window.

Sanson will add depth, quality and serious competition to Villa’s midfield as they aim to break into Europe this season.

Former Villa left-back Amavi, who played with Sanson at Marseille, wrote ‘Force my brother’ on Sanson’s Instagram message, whilst his new teammate, Guilbert, who now has a fellow Frenchman in the Villa squad, wrote: ‘Welcome my brother’.

Another one of Sanson’s teammates, Valentin Rongier, also sent his wishes by saying: ‘Solider, Good luck my brother.’

Villa take on Burnley in the Premier League today, so Sanson won’t be ready in time to feature.

But he will be tightening his laces up for Villa’s away clash at Southampton on Saturday.

It will be interesting to see what he brings to Dean Smith’s midfield because he has an array of talent and versatility in the middle of the park already.

From the driving energy battery John McGinn to the defensive and calming flair machine in Douglas Luiz, it’s going to be tough for Sanson to initially break into that starting XI.
