Norwich City want £5 million for former Leeds United skipper Jonny Howson – far more than Blackburn Rovers could pay for Bradley Dack.
Whether Bradley Dack would have made the difference in the second half of last season, as a lack of creative quality cost Leeds United a place in the play-offs, is anyone’s guess.
However, Gillingham’s prized asset would surely have provided one attribute Leeds are screaming for – goals from midfield. Therefore, with the Daily Mail reporting on January transfer deadline day that Dack was angling for a move to Elland Road, perhaps Leeds should have given him his wish.

The 23-year-old may have netted just five goals in 2016/17 as Gillingham struggled at the bottom end of League One but his tally of 13 the season before highlights the attacking thrust in his repertoire.
Furthermore, a tally of 17 assists since the beginning of 2015/16 shows that Dack can create as well as score.
However, it appears that Leeds have missed their chance. Kent Live reports that Dack is set to sign for Blackburn Rovers for just £500,000 as Tony Mowbray puts together a team capable of bouncing back to the Championship at the first time of asking following their relegation last season.
And if Leeds give in to Norwich City’s demands and re-sign Jonny Howson for a monstrous fee of £5 million this summer, as reported by The Mirror, Dack would look even better value for money by comparison.

He may not have played a single minute of Championship football in his burgeoning career but he is six years younger than Howson and has plenty of potential to boot.

Local lad Howson may be a hugely popular figure at Elland Road, the youngest captain to represent the club since the legendary Billy Bremner, but £5 million is a huge fee that would take up much of Leeds’ transfer budget.
Thinking logically, Dack could have been a better long-term addition than Howson. Yet, it appears that Leeds have left it too late.
