West Bromwich Albion appeared to enjoy an excellent window, with a number of impressive signings.

Jonny Evans has suggested that the signings that West Brom made during the summer transfer window have left him excited, adding that he has been particularly impressed with the starts that Jay Rodriguez and Gareth Barry have made, the Express and Star reports.

Few teams in the Premier League emerged from the summer window having received more praise than the Baggies, who, admittedly, took a while to really get going in the market, with Jay Rodriguez and Ahmed Hegazi proving to be the only signings for a while.

However, West Brom came to the party as the window went on, landing Gareth Barry, Oliver Burke and Kieran Gibbs on permanent deals, while few transfers captured the imagination quite like their loan deal for Grzegorz Krychowiak.

And Evans – who is yet to play for West Brom so far this season due to a hamstring injury – expressed his delight at the business the club has done during the recent months.

“Obviously Burke, and Rodriguez has come in and I have been really impressed with him. His all-round game has been fantastic,” he said, as reported by the Express and Star.

“The boy Krychowiak we played against in our first game at the Euros and he was outstanding. He was the best player on the pitch.

“It makes me very excited. We have got a lot of good midfielders at the club already.

“Gareth Barry has come in as well and looked fantastic.”

As mentioned, it had appeared that West Brom were on course to endure a largely miserable window, with the lack of depth not really being addressed until mid-August, and with former captain Darren Fletcher leaving for Stoke.

But there is no question that the Baggies squad looks to be in a significantly better position than they were at the start of the summer, so it is no surprise that Evans is excited to get back playing for the Hawthorns outfit.
