Glasgow Rangers have been very busy in the summer transfer window, and on Monday, they have completed the signing of Colombian striker Alfredo Morelos from HJK Helsinki on a three-year deal, for an undisclosed fee.

The 20-year-old has a great goalscoring record, netting 47 goals in 62 appearances during his time in Finland. This season, he has scored 17 goals in 19 games for the Veikkausliiga leaders.

With this move, the 20-year-old Colombian has become Ibrox manager Pedro Caixinha’s sixth summer signing.

Morelos is an exciting young talent, and the youngster has been compared to a young Luis Suarez, who arrived in Europe from Uruguay as a teenager, by his advisor, Jonne Lindblom.

Suarez went on to establish himself as a world class striker, blasting his way to fame at Ajax, Liverpool, and Barcelona.

Lindblom, who originally brought Morelos to HJK Helsinki from Medellin as a 19 year-old, says that the Rangers have signed an extremely talented player who is a brilliant finisher.

He added that the player had offers from across Europe, but they found Rangers as the perfect club for him to take the next step.

“Rangers are getting an extremely talented young player who is hungry to do well. I know he will end up playing in one of the big four or five leagues in the future,” he said, as quoted by The Daily Record.

“He is 20-years-old, his scoring record is really impressive. He’s a brilliant finisher, he’s strong, he’s technical, he works hard and he’s improving all the time. That’s why I expect he’ll go even further than Rangers.

“There was interest from all around Europe but we wanted to be careful with the next step. As soon as we found out the interest from Rangers we quite quickly figured out that was the perfect club for him to take the next step.

“In terms of his style of play he reminds me a bit of Luis Suarez. Obviously only one of them is a world class player but, in terms of how he controls the ball, how he shoots in really small spaces without needing a lot of time. Once he gets the ball at his feet inside the box he will shoot and usually he scores.”
