Young Everton defender has gelled well with experienced winger.
Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny has claimed that he is forging an effective partnership with winger Aaron Lennon.
Both players started and produced encouraging performances as Everton drew 2-2 away to Crystal Palace on Saturday and Kenny, who is still adjusting to the demands of first-team football, admitted that he is learning a lot from playing with the experienced Lennon.
Kenny told the club’s official website: “Playing with Aaron Lennon, for me, has been brilliant.
“He’s helped my game and I’m helping his. Together we’re forming a bit of a partnership. I’m really enjoying playing with him.”
Kenny was largely impressive against Palace and the 20-year-old will hope to continue as Everton’s regular right-back even when a permanent successor to Ronald Koeman is finally appointed.
Although they managed to secure a point against Palace, it is clear that Everton need to perform with greater consistency if they are to preserve their Premier League status.
Currently in 16th place in the Premier League, Everton have been vulnerable defensively this season. They have conceded 24 goals, with West Ham United the only team in the division to have let in more.
Next up for Everton is a Europa League game at home to Atalanta on Thursday but, given that they have already been eliminated from that competition, the Toffees will surely place greater importance on Sunday’s Premier League fixture away to Southampton.
