Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey said on Sky Sports News (7:54am, September 11, 2020) what club owner Mike Ashley has told the players.

Shelvey said that Ashley has told the Newcastle players that he is going to go to more matches this season.

The 28-year-old made the comments while looking ahead to the new Premier League campaign.

Shelvey said on Sky Sports News (7:54am, September 11, 2020): “The owner told us he’s going to go to more matches this year.”

Positive for Newcastle United fans

Ashley is often seen at Newcastle matches, and the English businessman deciding to go to more games is very positive for the Magpies.

It is always great for a club when the owner takes an active interest in what is happening on the pitch and goes to matches.

It shows the support for the players and the manager, and it also raises the game of the team.

Staying positive

Newcastle did quite well last season, as manager Steve Bruce guided the Magpies to a respective mid-table finish and also led them to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup.

The Magpies will be looking to have a similar season and perhaps push for the top 10 in the Premier League table.
