Newcastle United midfielder Jonjo Shelvey missed a penalty in midweek, as Steve Bruce’s side lost in the Carabao Cup.

Shelvey started for Newcastle against Leicester City in midweek, as they went out of the Carabao Cup on penalties.
Shelvey was one of the Newcastle players who missed their spot kick on Wednesday evening.
And the midfielder has admitted that he thinks that Steve Bruce will go back to the team which beat Tottenham Hotspur tomorrow.
“I don’t expect to play on Saturday against Watford,” Shelvey admitted.
“The team won [at Spurs]. That’s football. If I was a manager, I wouldn’t change [the starting XI]. If I do go into management, which I hope to one day, I wouldn’t change a winning team. That’s just the way it is.”

If Shelvey is dropped, Newcastle will start with Isaac Hayden and Sean Longstaff in midfield against Watford.
The Magpies are on a high, despite their cup defeat, as they pulled off a shock victory over Spurs in their last outing.
Newcastle will be required to deploy a slightly different game plan against Watford, as they are likely to have to play on the front foot more than they did last weekend.
Watford have started the season very poorly, and will travel to St. James’ Park without a point to their name.
