Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier 3 is reportedly in the works, and this time, there’s real authority behind it.

Jones and Cormier shared one of the most intense rivalries in UFC history, with their clashes standing out even among a crowded field of personal feuds.

The bad blood between them led to two memorable showdowns inside the Octagon. Their first meeting ended with Jones earning a unanimous decision at UFC 182 in 2015. The rematch saw him stop Cormier, though that result was later changed to a no-contest following a positive test for turinabol.

Their story never really felt finished inside the cage. Now, it seems Cormier might finally get another shot at closing that chapter in combat sports.

Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier’s third fight is reportedly in the works

Daniel Cormier and Jon Jones have a long history, one that appears to be set for another chapter.

While there hasn’t been a formal announcement, the latest buzz comes from Alfredo Auditore, CEO of ALF Global. Auditore mentioned on Instagram that discussions are ongoing for a wrestling match between the two under the Professional Wrestling League banner.

“We’ve made a wrestling match: Jon Jones vs Daniel Cormier in our PWL (Professional Wrestling League),” Auditore said on his Instagram Stories. “It’s almost confirmed from both sides. Let’s do it!”

This potential matchup would mark their first meeting outside MMA. Their rivalry began with Jones winning by decision at UFC 182 in 2015. They met again at UFC 214, where Jones initially won by knockout before the result was changed to a no-contest due to a failed drug test.

Cormier hasn’t fought since 2020, after back-to-back losses against Stipe Miocic. He later took over as an analyst for UFC broadcasts.

If this wrestling match is finalised, it would offer fans another look at one of MMA’s most enduring rivalries – this time with nothing but bragging rights on the line.

Jon Jones had previously turned down a wrestling match with Daniel Cormier

If Auditore’s comments hold up, it would mark a shift in Jon Jones’ position on facing Daniel Cormier again on the mats.

After their stint as coaches on ALF Reality, Cormier proposed that they each put up $50,000 for a winner-takes-all wrestling match. Jones turned down the idea at the time.

“(eye roll emoji) You’ve had your chance DC,” Jones posted.

But now Auditore says he’s managed to get Jones to reconsider, opening the door for another chapter in one of MMA’s most famous rivalries.

We’ll have to wait and see if this one actually goes ahead, nearly 10 years after their last fight inside the Octagon.
