Steven Gerrard made the bold move to make Rangers his first managerial job last summer.

BBC pundit Jonathan Walters has claimed that Steven Gerrard will want to return to the Premier League ‘at some point’ and he could be using Rangers as a ‘stepping stone’.
The former Liverpool midfielder made the bold move in agreeing to become Gers manager last summer despite never taking charge of a senior team before.
Despite his experiences as a player, both at club level and international level, nothing can prepare someone for life in management, particularly at a club with high expectations.
Speaking to Football Focus on BBC One (30/03/2019 at 12:55 pm), recently retired Walters admitted that Gerrard has walked into a ‘great’ job, but he could soon be making a return to England’s top-flight.
“Great first job for him to go into,” Walters told Football Focus. “It’s such a big club – If he does particularly well, will he use Rangers as a stepping stone to a Premier League team? I’m sure he will want to get back into the Premier League at some point.”
Given Gerrard’s association with Liverpool, it won’t be a surprise that one day he will be hoping to manage his boyhood club. But, at this moment in time, he will want to prove his worth at Rangers.

Added with that, he won’t be the only former England man aiming for the top. Derby boss, Frank Lampard and Aston Villa assistant, John Terry, will no doubt be vying to take the hot seat at Chelsea one day.
From a positive standpoint, if Gerrard does one day manage Liverpool then he will have to do something special in order to land that job.
The Gers will be hoping he can win a number of trophies, including the Scottish Premiership title at Ibrox in order to build his reputation.
