Aston Villa’s Jonathan Kodjia celebrates
Aston Villa’s winning run came to an end on Saturday afternoon, as they drew 1-1 away at Burton Albion – and star striker Jonathan Kodjia was substituted through injury.
Villa went into their game at the Pirelli Stadium having won four games in a row without conceding a goal, and they took the lead against Nigel Clough’s side in the first half.
A defensive mistake from the Brewers allowed Jonathan Kodjia to run clean through on goal, and the Ivorian continued his blistering form by slotting into the net with the outside of his right foot.
That took Kodjia’s remarkable run to eight goals in his last eight games for Villa, but his afternoon was cut short as he was substituted on 36 minutes with what appeared to be a dead leg.
Scott Hogan came on in his place, but Villa weren’t able to seal the win, as Lloyd Dyer swooped in the second half to hand Burton an equaliser and a share of the spoils.
Whilst fans were disappointed to see the winning run come to an end, they were primarily concerned about striker Kodjia, given that Villa play on Saturday and next Monday in a busy Easter schedule.

Ahead of games against Reading and Fulham, Kodjia has taken to Twitter to send a message to fans, which suggests that he should be fit to play in both games.
Kodjia firstly thanked fans for their messages of concern and support, before claiming that the Villa physio will get him back in no time at all, even though he ‘felt sore’ on Sunday morning.
