West Bromwich Albion have been woefully poor this season.

Ex-West Brom man Jonathan Greening spoke exclusively to the Express & Star about his former club’s troubles, and shared how he has noticed a distinct lack of fight and character amongst the current crop of players at the Hawthorns.

These are worrying times for Baggies fans, with their side currently marooned at the bottom of the Premier League table, with eight points separating them and 17th placed Southampton.

Alan Pardew was handed the reigns at the Hawthorns in November, but his side have managed to win just once since then, and relegation to the Championship is starting to look like a very real possibility.

Greening, who was part of West Brom’s great escape campaign in the 2004/05 campaign, shared what he has noticed about the Baggies when he has watched them this season, as quoted by the Express & Star:

“It’s looking a bit grim at the moment. The games I’ve seen they don’t seem to have that many characters in the team to dig in when things are going against them.”

Pardew’s side face a crucial game against Bournemouth tomorrow, and nothing less than a win will do, if they are to have any chance whatsoever of avoiding the drop this season.

That will be easier said than done, though, considering the fact that West Brom have won just once away from home in the league all season long.
