Sunderland are interested in signing Reading-owned Peterborough United goalkeeper Jonathan Bond in the summer transfer window, according to The Sunday People (print edition, page 52, April 1, 2018).

It has been reported that Sunderland want to sign Bond on a free transfer when his current contract with Reading runs out in the summer of 2018.

The 24-year-old goalkeeper has been on loan at Peterborough United in League One since the summer of 2017.

Good signing

Bond is a good goalkeeper, and his performances for Peterborough in League One so far this campaign have been encouraging.

In 34 appearances in League One for Posh so far this season, the 24-year-old has conceded 43 goals and kept seven clean sheets, according to Transfermarkt.co.uk.

The former Watford goalkeeper has been a success in League One, and it would be smart of Sunderland to snap him up on a free transfer in the summer of 2018.

Sunderland are likely to get relegated from the Championship at the end of the season, and having a goalkeeper who knows what League One is all about will help them in getting promoted from the division.
