Rangers first-team coach Jonatan Johansson has explained on the club’s official website what Alfredo Morelos will bring to the team.

Rangers recently completed the signing of Morelos from HJK Helsinki on a three-year contract.

The 21-year-old striker has arrived at Ibrox with a strong reputation, having scored 30 goals in 43 appearances, as stated on the Gers’ official website.

Rangers first-team coach Johansson followed the Colombia Under-20 international at HJK Helsinki, and he has spoken highly of the youngster.

“He’s a very young, exciting player,” Johansson told Rangers’ official website about Morelos. “He can play all the forward positions which gives the manager a lot of options. I think he compliments the other players we have and who are coming in very well.

“His obvious big strength is his goalscoring. I hope the Rangers fans will see that with good finishing from his right foot, left foot, he can head the ball and he is good at finding spaces in the box.

“He can shoot from distance with both feet as well, he’s deceivingly quick, he’s got big legs, big strong thighs, and his first 10 to 15 yards are very explosive.

“He’s physical in the box and he can hold the ball up and turn people, so I think he’s an exciting young prospect.”

Johansson’s comments will be music to the ears of Rangers fans, who should be optimistic about Morelos.

The Colombian is a talented and promising young striker, and the nature of his game and his versatility to play in a number of positions in attack are going to be important for the Gers next season.

Pedro Caixinha’s Rangers will be aiming to close the gap on Old Firm rivals Celtic next season, as well as progress to the group stage of the Europa League.
