Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have a gem of a striker in Alfredo Morelos.
Jonatan Johansson has admitted to The Daily Mail that he has been surprised by how well Alfredo Morelos has adapted to Scottish football.
Rangers signed a lot of players last summer but the Colombian has arguably proven the best of the bunch.
The 21-year-old, a £1.2 million signing from HJK Helsinki, has netted 17 goals for the Gers across all competitions and reaching the 20-goal mark would cap a superb first nine months in Glasgow for the youngster.
Such is his form, the Ibrox side had to battle to keep hold of the South American marksman this past January, with a number of Chinese clubs reportedly interested.
And the 42-year-old, who personally scouted Morelos in Finland, admits to being surprised at how fast he has taken to life in the Scottish Premiership.
“He has surprised me a little bit,” he told The Daily Mail.
“Watching him in Finland, I felt his good points would suit the Scottish game because he is strong, likes to battle with defenders – plus he scores goals.
“You never know with transfers how they will turn out but Alfredo has been great.”
Morelos is a fine talent and one who will only get better and better so long as Rangers keep him, but can they?
Like Moussa Dembele on the other side of Glasgow, the Gers could be facing a losing battle with regards to keeping him in the long term, but like Celtic, they will be handsomely compensated for unearthing such a gem.
