Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos was brought to Ibrox when Pedro Caxinha was in charge of the club.
Jonatan Johansson has admitted that he is pleased to see interest in Rangers striker Alfredo Morelos because it means that the player is doing something right.
Striker Morelos was brought to Ibrox in 2017 during the unsuccessful managerial spell of Pedro Caixinha’s, with Johansson working under his wings during his reign.
Despite Caixinha’s unforgettable time at the club, the one positive that did come out of it was Morelos and the form he has produced in front of goal since.
Former Light Blues striker Johansson was delighted with the work Morelos has produced during the recently concluded campaign and the interest in his services.
“It was a fantastic season goal-wise for him and his overall game was very good as well, which of course is pleasing,” Johansson told the Evening Times. “As I have said before many times, when you bring someone over to a club you feel a bit of personal responsibility and you want him to do really well. Alfredo has done well for himself and for Rangers.
“It is one of those things, you want your players to do well and you want them to have interest from other clubs because it means they are doing well. That is part of football and it is up to the club and to the player to decide what is best for the future.”
In May, French outlet Foot Mercato claimed that if Morelos does leave Ibrox this summer then the club will demand £15 million for his services, with a number of clubs keen on the player.
From a pure goalscoring perspective, Morelos has been a real threat for opposition defenders under Steven Gerrard, but the negative is what he has been doing off the ball.
He has been sent off on a number of occasions, which has seemingly cost his side, and it won’t be a surprise if Rangers are tempted to part ways with the player if an offer comes in for him this summer.
