Ibrox side Glasgow Rangers have signed Jon Toral on loan from Arsenal until the end of the season.
Glasgow Rangers midfielder Jon Toral has told the Glasgow Evening Times that he was really annoyed to miss out on playing in the Old-Firm derby earlier this month.
Toral was ruled out of Rangers’ match against Celtic with a slight injury, which forced him to watch on from the stands.
And the Arsenal loanee admits that he was extremely disappointed to miss out on playing in the match against Rangers’ Glasgow rivals, after making his return to first-team action last weekend, against Hamilton.
“I was really disappointed to miss the Celtic game with a back injury. That really annoyed me,” Toral said.
“It was nice to be back and to get a win on Saturday. It was nice to play 90 minutes as well.
“The team has got great momentum, we have won a few games and got the draw at Celtic. We will keep working hard, keep enjoying it and hopefully we can keep winning games.”
In Toral’s absence, Rangers managed to pick up a 1-1 draw against Celtic at Parkhead.
Rangers and Celtic are due to meet against in the Scottish Cup semi-final in April, and Toral may get his first taste of the rivalry in that match.
Toral’s return against Hamilton was a productive one, as he helped Rangers pick up a 4-0 victory.
Toral claimed an assist, as the Light Blues picked up a comprehensive victory during Pedro Caixinha’s first match in charge at Ibrox.
Toral’s next action for Rangers is likely to come in two weekends’ time, when Caixinha’s men take on Motherwell.
