Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United lost to Birmingham City this afternoon.

Leeds United have suffered a blow in their quest to finish in the top two of the Championship table this season.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side have been beaten 1-0 by relegation-threatened Birmingham City away from home at St. Andrew’s in the Championship this afternoon.
Che Adams scored the only goal of the match in the 29th minute to enhance the Blues’ chances of escaping the drop to League One at the end of the season.
Former Leeds defender Newsome was following the match for BBC Radio Leeds, and he has given his take on the final result.
Newsome said on BBC Radio Leeds on Saturday afternoon at full time (4:57pm, April 6, 2019): “I think the desire, the work-rate, I cannot fault. I thought the quality wasn’t the best that I have seen today.
“Creating chances, we haven’t created an abundant of chances, but I think there were two or three extremely good chances that you would have expected to do better with.”

Promotion challenge
The defeat to Birmingham away from home on Saturday afternoon means that Leeds are now third in the Championship table with 76 points from 40 matches.
Bielsa’s side are just a point behind second-placed Sheffield United and as many as eight points behind leaders Norwich City.
It is very unlikely that Leeds will be able to catch the Canaries at the top of the table, meaning that they are now in the fight for the second spot with the Blades.
