Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier have reignited their long-standing rivalry, with Jones now pulling in one of Cormier’s old training partners.

The two light heavyweight legends had one of the most heated rivalries in MMA history, both inside and outside the Octagon.

Even though Cormier has retired and Jones is nearing the end of his career, the back-and-forth between them has not slowed down.

Last week, ‘Bones’ claimed that he had been offered a trilogy fight with ‘DC’ – but this time in a different sport altogether.

Recently, Jones posted photos and videos from a trip to Chechnya, where he spent time with Ramzan Kadyrov, the region’s leader.

Cormier took issue with the timing of the trip, questioning why Jones was not at home with family for Thanksgiving. That comment brought their long-standing rivalry back into the spotlight.

On Thanksgiving Day, the 38-year-old responded by reminding Cormier of their fights and adding that he lives rent-free in his head.

The back-and-forth did not stop there. Jones later followed up with another comment online that also brought Khabib Nurmagomedov into the conversation.

He wrote on X: “Maybe I should send one of those Khabib gifts to Daniel Cormier so he can actually enjoy his holiday instead of thinking about me all the time.”

Khabib recently started selling digital papakhas online as part of a fan engagement campaign. The move quickly drew criticism from his old rival Conor McGregor, who accused him of misleading fans and tarnishing his father’s legacy.

Jon Jones eyes potential UFC return in 2026

Jones is looking ahead to a possible UFC return in 2026, with the event at the White House being mentioned as a potential stage for his comeback.

If he does make that comeback, it would put Cormier in an interesting spot. As a UFC commentator, he might be calling the fight, despite their history.
