Rangers defender Jon Flanagan has spoken highly of Ibrox teammate Glenn Middleton on Rangers TV.

Flanagan, who joined Rangers in the summer transfer window after leaving Liverpool at the end of last season, has been hugely impressed with what Middleton does in training.

The 18-year-old winger, who joined Rangers in January 2018 from Norwich City in the Championship in England, has been playing well for Steven Gerrard’s side in recent weeks and has established himself as an important player in the Gers’ team.

Flanagan told Middleton about Rangers TV: “We see him day in day out on the training pitch and we know what he is capable of.

“So it’s about him going and expressing himself on the big stage in front of 50-60,000 people at Ibrox. And I think he is doing a really good job with that so far.”

Promising talent

Middleton had to be patient to get his chance for Rangers, and the winger has taken it well.

The former Norwich prospect has scored two goals and provided two assists in seven Scottish Premiership appearances, and has scored one goal and provided one assist in four Europa League matches for Rangers so far this season, according to Transfermarkt.com.

Villarreal clash

Meanwhile, Villarreal midfielder Santi Cazorla is confident of a positive result against Rangers away from home at Ibrox in the Europa League Group G on Thursday evening.

The Glasgow Evening Times quotes Cazorla as saying: “I felt we approached our best form and the important thing now is to keep the momentum going with a win in Glasgow. We have set our standards and we have to keep them up in the Europa League now.”
