Glasgow Rangers defender Jon Flanagan has told his side’s official website that he is gutted with the goal that St. Johnstone scored yesterday.

Rangers won 5-1 in the contest, but Steven Gerrard’s squad are demanding higher standards this season.

And Flanagan admits that not keeping a clean sheet at Ibrox was a disappointing for him.

He said: “The lads were excellent today, us defenders and Greegsy (Allan McGregor) are just a bit gutted we conceded a goal but that is football, it happens. We will take the win and we are delighted with that.”

Despite the late goal, Rangers still impressed with their performance against St. Johnstone.

The Light Blues tore opponents, as they picked up the three points to move up to second in the table.

Gerrard’s men opened the scoring through James Tavernier, and from that moment they never looked back.

Alfredo Morelos, Scott Arfield, Kyle Lafferty and Daniel Candeias all found the back of the net to round off a comprehensive triumph.

Rangers are next in action on Wednesday, when they take on Ayr in the League Cup.
