Wolverhampton Wanderers defender Joleon Lescott has told Bwin that he believes striker Raul Jimenez could be the newly-promoted side’s best summer signing – despite the club landing Rui Patricio and Joao Moutinho.

The 27-year-old striker joined Wolves on a season-long loan from Benfica this summer, and has started all seven of Wolves’ Premier League outings under Nuno Espirito Santo.

A 67-time Mexico international, Jimenez has impressed in England’s top tier scoring two goals against Everton and Burnley, as well as creating goals for his side with two assists against Man United and Southampton.

Lescott, who came through Wolves’ academy and clocked up overt 200 appearances for the senior side, was asked who he believes will be the club’s most important signing and picked Jimenez over Adama Traore, Moutinho and Patricio.

“I think Raul Jimenez could prove to be Wolves’ most important signing this summer,” Lescott said. “You need a striker who can cope with the pressure and score some important goals to survive in the Premier League.

“He has an excellent work rate and I think we’ve already seen he will be a success this season.”

Santo also brought the likes of Benik Afobe, Willy Boly, Leander Dendoncker and Jonny, as Wolves made a number of high-profile signings that caught the attention of Premier League football fans.

It seems to be paying off, with Wolves only losing one of their seven Premier League matches, and sitting in ninth in the table with 12 points.
