Arsenal fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jamie Carragher made a bold statement about Brighton defender Adam Webster last night.

What’s the story?

Well, the £25m man was superb yesterday as Brighton drew 1-1 with Chelsea, although Carragher’s comments about him have infuriated the Arsenal supporters.

The Sky Sports pundit claimed that Webster is better than any other defender in England at passing the ball, using both feet.

You can see Carragher’s tweet in full below.

So, why are the Arsenal fans angry about this?

Well, they clearly feel that Ben White is the best around, as the Gunners supporters flooded Carragher’s comments section with complaints.

Mikel Arteta spend £50m to sign the England international from Brighton in July, as the Spaniard looked to build moves from the back.

However, as far as Carragher is concerned, that £50m probably should’ve been spent on Webster if passing ability was what Arteta was looking for.

Is Ben White better than Adam Webster?

In our view, White is the better player, and he’s also three years younger than Webster.

As WhoScored shows, the Arsenal No.4 has a pass success rate of 84%, averaging 50.7 passes per game in the Premier League this season.

In Webster’s case, he records 64.1 passes per game, with a success rate of 83.2% – it’s a tight one.

In our view, Carragher was just trying to get a reaction, and it’s worked.

Webster has never been spoken about like this, but as soon as he delivers a Man of the Match display against Chelsea, he is now supposedly one of the best passers in England.

It’s slightly reactionary from the ex-Liverpool defender.

For now, let’s see what the Arsenal fans on Twitter have been saying about Carragher’s tweet on Webster…
