The Fulham manager has dealt the teenager some extremely high praise indeed.

Ryan Sessegnon of Fulham looks on during the pre-season friendly between Reading and Fulham at the EBB Stadium on July 14, 2018 in Aldershot, England.

Speaking to Marca, Fulham manager Slavisa Jokanovic believes teenage superstar Ryan Sessegnon ‘is a mix of Gareth Bale and Marcelo’.

The 18-year-old is arguably one of the hottest prospects across Europe at the moment, and people are excited to see how he fares in the Premier League this season with the Cottagers – assuming, of course, he stays put in the next couple of weeks.

It’s been a whirlwind start to his fledgling career, and Sessegnon has racked up 82 appearances across all competitions already for the west Londoners.

Remarkably, he’s also already scored 23 goals for the club, despite starting out as a left-back before moving further forward to take advtange of his attacking abilities.

His inclination to bomb forward and wreak havoc on opposition defences has prompted his manager to deal him a huge amount of praise.

Jokanovic told Marca: “He is an incredible player project, with a fantastic physical capacity. People compare him to Bale, for me it’s a mix between Marcelo and Bale.

“I’ve used him lately in a more offensive role, but he’s ready to be left-back of a big team that constantly attacks. He still has a lot of room for improvement.”

Bale is a comparison that has been made before, with the Welsh winger having started out as a left-back himself at Southampton, before going on to play further up the field for Tottenham, and then anywhere in the final third for Real Madrid.

Marcelo is arguably Europe’s best attacking left-back at the moment, and for Sessegnon to have a mix of both of those players in him – according to his manager at least – could make him a truly scary player to face in a few years time.
