Sam Johnstone will not be joining Aston Villa from Manchester United so should West Ham United finally make their move?

The financial implications for Aston Villa after losing to Fulham in the Championship playoff final could be hugely damaging for the club.
The Telegraph reports that they are now in serious danger of breaking Financial Fair Play rules next season after failing to secure their return to the Premier League.

The budget will therefore be much more strict for next term, with captain John Terry expected to leave after his contract expires and moves to sign loan trio Lewis Grabban, Sam Johnstone and Robert Snodgrass permanently having been scrapped.
The news that Johnstone will not be heading back to Villa from parent club Manchester United could well be greeted in a positive fashion at West Ham United, though.

This interest was reported since Manuel Pellegrini was named as the new manager, however, and the Mirror has since claimed that Reims stopper Edouard Mendy is on the radar, but perhaps now is the perfect opportunity to make the most of Johnstone’s availability.
