Aston Villa seem to be on the verge of signing Sam Johnstone from Manchester United.
Sam Johnstone’s loan move from Manchester United to Aston Villa has picked up more momentum after the goalkeeper was spotted in the stands at a pre-season friendly by the Birmingham Mail.
While it was Makija Sarkic who started between the posts for the Birmingham side in the 4-0 victory over Telford, Johnstone was present at the game and watching on.

According to the same newspaper, this comes shortly after owner Dr Tony Xia gave the simple response to a fan on Twitter saying: “announce Johnstone”, by replying; “very soon”.
With it looking increasingly likely that David de Gea will stay at Old Trafford and the Red Devils also having Sergio Romero and Joel Pereira on the books, they have decided to allow Johnstone to leave.
The 24-year-old spent the latter half of last season on loan at Villa Park, making 22 appearances and clearly impressing manager Steve Bruce.
Johnstone will become the Villans’ second signing of the summer window after securing John Terry on a free transfer from Chelsea.
