Johnny Giles has said on Off The Ball that he hopes that Leeds United head coach Marcelo Bielsa does not leave for Tottenham Hotspur.

The former Leeds midfielder has said that he has heard a rumour that Tottenham are interested in appointing Bielsa as their new manager at the end of the season.

The Argentine is out of contract at Leeds at the end of the season, and no new deal is in place.

Ryan Mason has replaced Jose Mourinho as the Spurs first-team boss until the end of the season.

Giles said on Off The Ball: “I heard this rumour going around that Spurs could be interested in him. I would be a bit surprised.”

The former Leeds star added: “I hope he doesn’t leave them. He has done a great job at Leeds and hope he continues to do it.”

Are Tottenham Hotspur interested in Marcelo Bielsa?

There are no (credible) reports yet that Spurs are interested in bringing Bielsa from Leeds.

However, some pundits have been suggesting Bielsa as a possible candidate for the Tottenham managerial role.

Talksport and The Times pundit Tony Cascarino believes that Bielsa “could regenerate Tottenham”, while ex-Spurs player Jamie O’Hara, who works for talkSPORT, has said that the Argentine would be “absolutely brilliant” for the North London club.

Should Leeds United fans be worried?

Bielsa does not sign long-term contracts, and the Argentine seems happy at Leeds.

It is very likely that the Argentine is waiting for the season to finish to get his contract sorted.

Leeds fans need not worry about Bielsa leaving the club this summer.
