John Thompson reacts to Nottingham Forest defeat to Reading

Nottingham Forest lost against Reading in the Championship on Saturday.

John Thompson has told BBC Radio Nottingham that Nottingham Forest’s performance against Reading at the weekend was much improved.

Forest suffered a 2-0 defeat to Reading away from home in the Championship on Saturday afternoon.

Garath McCleary put the Royals in the lead at the Madejski Stadium after 10 minutes, and Chris Gunter doubled the advantage just past the hour mark.

Former Forest defender Thompson was following the match, and he suggested to BBC Radio Nottingham that Philippe Montanier’s side’s performance was much improved.

The former Republic of Ireland international also expressed his surprised that the Reds have not kept a clean sheet in the Championship so far this season.

Over the course of the 90 minutes at the Madejski Stadium on Saturday afternoon, hosts Reading had 62% of the possession, took seven shots of which four were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.

Visitors Forest had 38% of the possession, took 21 shots of which five were on target, and earned eight corners, according to BBC Sport.

The Reds are 20th in the Championship table at the moment with 15 points from as many matches, just a point above the relegation zone.
