Chelsea captain John Terry took a trip down memory lane by posting a picture of himself with Sir Alex Ferguson on social media.

Manchester United fans have been reminded of what might have been with John Terry.
Having played 707 matches and counting for Chelsea and winning 14 major trophies during his time at Stamford Bridge, which could also rise now under Antonio Conte, Terry will undoubtedly go down as one of the Blues greats.
Though things could have turned out a lot different for the Chelsea captain.
Pictured alongside the Premier League and FA Cup in 1994-95, Ferguson was looking to defend the double and build his next generation of United stars.
The former United boss invited the young Englishman with his United-supporting father to train during the school holidays, as he tried to persuade him to sign for the Reds.

Though clearly unsuccessful as he ended up choosing Chelsea, that two weeks has evidently stuck in Terry’s mind, overwhelmed by the personal touch applied by the greatest manager in football history.
“I met Alex Ferguson – great to meet,” the defender said, as quoted by the Observer in 2006. “During the school holidays I would go up to Manchester and train with their boys for two weeks, play a few games and come home.
“But one thing that was really special about Man United was that Alex Ferguson took time out and invited me to one of their games and to have lunch with their players.
“So there we are — me, my mum and dad, my brother. He made me feel so special, autographs, my photo done with the Premiership trophy.”

For Ferguson it was another case of the one that got away.
However, United haven’t done too badly since then, and won’t dwell on Terry’s reminder too much after remembering the part he played in United lifting the Champions League trophy in 2008.
