John Terry posted on Twitter that Huddersfield should have been awarded ‘two penalties’ as Nottingham Forest earned promotion to the Premier League at Wembley.
Forest beat Huddersfield 1-0 in the Championship play-off final, but it didn’t come after a few controversial calls towards the end of the game.
Jon Moss, who was officiating his final game, was the man in the middle, with VAR being used for the first time in the Championship play-off final.
Harry Toffolo was booked for diving late in the game, but replays showed that Jack Colback did make contact with the Huddersfield player.
VAR looked at the call, but Stockley Park stuck with the on-field referee’s decision and it was a free-kick to Forest instead.
And then Lewis O’Brien felt that he was fouled by Max Lowe in the penalty area, but VAR didn’t look at the incident.
Chelsea legend Terry felt that the Terriers were unfortunate and thinks ‘two penalties’ should have been awarded during the game.
JON MOSS’ RETIREMENT TOO LATE
Jon Moss made the wrong calls, it’s simple as that and, in truth, his retirement has come too late.
A number of weeks ago, Aston Villa boss Steven Gerrard expressed that he was glad that Moss was retiring after his poor showing against Liverpool.
And now, not only was he at fault, but so was VAR, which begs the question as to why it’s in place if it’s not eradicating mistakes.
But, that doesn’t hide the fact that Nottingham Forest, one of the sleeping giants of English football, is now back in the Premier League – Aston Villa’s Matty Cash is delighted at their return, whilst Gary Lineker is also pleased the Midlands giants are back.
