John Terry has missed Aston Villa’s last two matches through injury.
The 36-year-old has been forced to wear a protective boot after breaking the fifth metatarsal in his foot during Villa’s 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday at the start of the month.
It has seen the former Chelsea and England captain miss the wins against Queens Park Rangers and Sunderland, and he is expected to miss Saturday’s clash as the Midlands giants play host to Ipswich Town at Villa Park.
Villa’s number 26 told fans he was “so happy” to be told he no longer needs to wear his protective boot, posting a video of himself on a stationary bike as he looks to recover from the foot injury sooner rather than later.
Terry had played every single minute of Aston Villa’s Championship campaign prior to the injury, helping the Midlands outfit keep seven clean sheets in his 16 league outings as well as scoring against Fulham in October’s 2-1 win.
Villa will be looking to make it three out of three as they play host to Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich, with three points and a tenth league win enough to take Steve Bruce’s side to within two points of the automatic promotion slots – if Sheffield United and Cardiff both lose this weekend.
