Following reports from Sky Sports that Aston Villa have offered John Terry a contract, if the former England captain doesn’t wish to retire, then this should be the option he takes – even if it means turning down a Premier League side in West Bromwich Albion, who were interested in his services, as reported by the Telegraph.
The 36-year-old is a natural born winner, and lifted five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League and the Europa League during his time at Chelsea, becoming arguably the best centre back in Premier League history in the process.

The reality is that Terry has nothing to prove to anyone, and it would be a shame for such a great player to finish his playing career in mediocrity at Tony Pulis’ West Brom – where he may reach the last 16 of a cup and finish ninth – with retirement at the top surely seeming a better option.
However, the Villa interest opens new doors, as it gives the serial winner something else to get stuck into – a new challenge in a division Terry hasn’t played in since a loan spell with Nottingham Forest in the 1999/2000 season – while representing a significantly bigger club in the process.

Under Steve Bruce, Villa are an incredibly ambitious outfit and will be gunning for the Championship title this season, and it would also allow Terry to link up with one of his friends in Bruce, with the two being pictured playing golf recently, as shown on Terry’s Instagram account.
Even if it means dropping a division and saying goodbye to the Premier League – possibly forever – a switch to Villa makes so much more sense than a move to West Brom, if Terry chooses to pass up his chance at a perfect retirement as a title winner.
