Tottenham Hotspur have been trying to buy Jack Grealish from Aston Villa for a considerable amount of time now.

Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry has told the Telegraph that Jack Grealish will be at Villa Park next season, despite strong interest from Tottenham Hotspur again.

Spurs have been long-term admirers of Grealish, and the London Evening Standard have reported how Mauricio Pochettino’s side would have moved for the playmaker had Villa failed to earn promotion back to the Premier League.

However, the claret and blues beat Derby County 2-1 at Wembley, and Terry has now suggested that his side’s key players won’t be leaving this summer.

“We’re not just going in to make the numbers up. I think we’re prepared. It’s great that we have gone up, as it means we get to keep the likes of Jack [Grealish], John McGinn and all our top players,” he said.

“We have players out of contract and we need to strengthen to make the jump, of course, but if we add in the right departments, I’m sure we will be fine.”

If Tottenham do fail to capture Grealish for a second summer running then it could be frustrating for Spurs fans.

The Villa captain has proven his quality over the past campaign, where he has been nothing short of sensational in the Championship.

Grealish returned from injury earlier this year to lead Villa into the play offs and then he helped his boyhood club win the promotion deciding fixtures.

Spurs, meanwhile, are set to step up their summer transfer plans after the Champions League final takes place on Saturday.
