Arsenal signing Tammy Abraham might be a little more complicated now than it was a few weeks ago.
And that’s because now, the former Chelsea hitman – and boyhood Gunners’ fan – is a European champion.
Well, kind of.
Last night, the reported Arsenal target helped Roma to a 1-0 victory over Feyenoord as Jose Mourinho delivered a Europa Conference League title.
It certainly isn’t the most important trophy Abraham will win during his career, but it is a European trophy nonetheless and having previously wanted £70 million for their star striker, the Italian outfit might hike the price up even further now.
The Athletic reported this week that the Chelsea-raised marksman was open to joining Mikel Arteta’s side during the summer transfer window.
And here’s what John Terry tweeted about the player last night, after winning the trophy.
Is Arsenal signing Tammy Abraham?
Not definitively, no.
Abraham is simply one of several big-name number nines linked with summer transfers to the Emirates Stadium, the others being Gabriel Jesus of Manchester City and Paulo Dybala at Juventus to name but a few.
With Eddie Nketiah potentially staying at Arsenal, though, the need for lots of new hitmen becomes reduced.
Nketiah had looked set to leave the Gunners on a Bosman but may now sign a new contract, according to The Athletic.
Alexandre Lacazette is still certainly leaving North London when his deal expires next month but with the Nketiah development, there is less urgency than there was before.
