Aston Villa assistant manager John Terry has messaged Alan Hutton suggesting he was a pleasure to work with.

Hutton has been let go by Villa following their promotion, with the full-back now free to look for a new club.

Hutton helped Villa into the Premier League last season, but Dean Smith opted against giving the Scot a new contract.

Hutton left an emotional post on Instagram confirming his Villa departure yesterday.

And Terry was quick to respond by telling the veteran full-back that he loved working with him.

Hutton has been a loyal servant to Villa, after joining back in 2011.

The right-back made 185 appearances for the claret and blues in total, earning the nickname ‘The Scottish Cafu’ among the Villa fans.

Where Hutton will go next remains to be seen, but there is sure to be interest in him, as the 34-year-old proved he could still play at Championship level through his performances for Villa last term.
