John Terry spent the 2017-18 season at Steve Bruce’s Aston Villa.
According to The Sun, Villa manager Steve Bruce wants to sign Terry on a free transfer for the 2018-19 campaign.
The former England international defender spent the 2017-18 season at Villa after moving to the Villans on a free transfer in the summer of 2017.
The 37-year-old central defender has said that he wants to carry on playing and does not plan to retire yet.
Terry has also stated that he feels that he has unfinished business at Villa, perhaps a hint that the Premier League and Champions League winner with Chelsea is open to moving to Villa Park.
“When we spoke in the summer, it wasn’t long after the season and I was still hurting,” Terry told The Daily Mail. “I loved my time at Aston Villa.
“I am still devastated that we didn’t go up. The manager, players and supporters were incredible with me but I hate losing and I feel there is unfinished business there.
“Steve Bruce is a great man and with the backing of the new owners, Steve will hopefully get the club back into the Premier League.
“Don’t get me wrong, if I don’t play again I am content with what has been an unbelievable career, but I’m still hungry to go and play if everything around it is right. If it’s right for me and my family.”
Quality signing
Terry may be in his late 30s, but the Englishman is fit, and his performances last season show that he can be a success in the Championship.
The former England international was one of the best defenders in the Championship last season, and he would be a very good signing for Villa for the 2018-19 campaign.
