Aston Villa assistant boss John Terry has written on Instagram that Tyrone Mings had a ‘superb debut’ for England last night.

Villa defender Mings was rewarded for his fine form at Villa Park with a call-up to the latest England squad, and he took his chance in Gareth Southgate’s side.

Mings excelled for England last night, as they picked up a 6-0 win over Bulgaria.

And Terry was certainly impressed by the Villa centre-back’s performance, judging by his reaction on social media.

Mings had never played for England before last night at any level, but he looked at home representing his country.

The Villa man brought an assurance to the Three Lions’ defence, which has previously not always been on display.

Mings certainly seems to have moved ahead of Michael Keane in the England pecking order now, and could well have cemented his place in the Southgate’s squad.

England will meet up again in November, as they look to top their qualification group ahead of Euro 2020.
