Aston Villa defender John Terry was forced off the field with a foot injury against Sheffield Wednesday.

The 36-year-old centre-back was forced off the field of play last time out in the 21st minute of Villa’s 2-1 loss to Sheffield Wednesday, breaking his fifth metatarsal when going into a sliding tackle.

Wearing the captain’s armband, Terry has featured in all 16 of Villa’s Championship outings and had not missed a minute of league action before suffering the injury prior to the international break.
It remains to be seen when the former England and Chelsea captain will be fit to return but will definitely miss Saturday’s clash against Queens Park Rangers. However, the defender posted an encouraging video on Instagram that saw him doing “deep water running”.
Terry has been in excellent form for Bruce’s side this term, helping Villa keep seven clean sheets in his 16 league outings as the Midlands giants dream of a Premier League return in sixth place among the Championship play-off slots.
Chris Samba is expected to come in alongside Wales international James Chester, but the Birmingham Mail claim Australia international Mile Jedinak could be used at the heart of the defence after scoring a hat-trick for the Socceroos on Wednesday.
