The Aston Villa star has clearly picked the right club to continue his post-Chelsea career.
John Terry of Aston Villa celebrates
Aston Villa fans probably felt like they had won a lottery when they managed to snap up John Terry on a free transfer in the summer.
The former England captain had decided he was not yet done at a high level after his long and illustrious career at Chelsea finally came to an end. He therefore decided to take on a new challenge, in trying to get Aston Villa back to the Premier League.
At the moment, it seems like he is doing a pretty good job.
Aston Villa’s new signing John Terry meets supporters
He has become a club hero already, despite early doubts over his passion for the club given his obvious love for former club Chelsea.
But his intensity and quality has shone through and Aston Villa fans are in no doubt about his feelings for the club now.
An interesting fact has now come to the fore on twitter this week, which gives villa fans something of a bragging right over his former club as well:
Indeed the derby game against Birmingham City was the biggest home attendance he has played in front of in club football.
Villa Park is just about bigger than Stamford Bridge and it was packed to the rafters for the game on Sunday – leaving Terry playing in front of yet another atmosphere.
John Terry of Chelsea
Of course Chelsea fans will come back with the five Premier League titles, five FA Cups, Europa League and Champions League medal they saw him win but right now Aston Villa fans are just happy he is a Villan, at least until the end of the season.
If they can get him to sign on the dotted line of a new deal, maybe that record could fall again in a Villa v Chelsea game next term.
