John Terry ‘can’t believe’ Newcastle United January target, Diego Costa, hasn’t signed for a Premier League club, as he posted on Twitter.

The Chelsea legend played alongside Costa at Stamford Bridge and questioned why the free transfer is without a club.

During the January transfer window, there were suggestions that Newcastle were looking at the two-time Premier League winner.

But those in the St James’ Park boardroom seemingly opted against signing Costa, and instead, added Burnley’s Chris Wood to their ranks.

Of course, given that Costa is a free transfer, any team can sign up the 33-year-old at any point.

But with the second-highest spending January now concluded by those in England’s top-flight, Terry has questioned why Costa hasn’t returned to familiar grounds.

Costa recently left the Brazilian side, Atletico Mineiro, and he is now on the lookout for the next chapter in his career.

Players lose that yard of pace, their legs might tire quicker and they may lose a bit of sharpness as they age.

But, one thing that doesn’t leave a striker is that instinct in front of goal and the ability to put the ball in the back of the net.

Added with Costa’s aggressive style and ability to get under the skin of the opposition, he would be a real asset to any top-flight club and it will be interesting to see where he moves to next.

Even without his goals, he is a handful, so someone somewhere might just look to snap him up.
