Rangers manager Steven Gerrard reportedly wants to bring John Souttar to Ibrox, but the Heart of Midlothian central defender’s latest comments in The Scottish Sun suggest that he is not planning on switching clubs in the summer transfer window.
According to The Daily Record, Rangers are interested in signing Souttar from Scottish Premiership rivals Hearts this summer.
The report has claimed that Hearts will look at least £3m for the 22-year-old central defender, while TEAMtalk has reported of interest in the Scotland international from Derby County in the Championship in England.
The former Dundee United defender is one of the best and most promising young defenders in the Scottish Premiership, and there is no surprise that Rangers manager Gerrard and Derby boss Frank Lampard are reportedly looking at him as a transfer target this summer.
According to WhoScored, Souttar made 23 starts and one substitute appearance in the Scottish Premiership for Hearts this season, and also featured five times in the Scottish Cup and twice in the Scottish League Cup.
Souttar is determined to have a successful season in 2019-20 and wants to get over the disappointment of the defeat to Celtic in the Scottish Cup at the weekend, comments that suggest that he is not planning on leaving Hearts this summer.

Souttar told The Scottish Sun: “We have players who have big futures at Hearts. There has been a lot of work gone on at this club, and we are going to reap the rewards very soon, and the fans will see more boys coming through.
“The gaffer and backroom staff do a lot of work in the academy, and you can see the quality coming through.
“I think we have been unlucky this season. We got to the Betfred Cup semi-final and then the Scottish Cup Final. It is easy to criticise the gaffer and he is the one who gets it.
“But he does a lot of work behind the scenes, and we will see the benefit of that a few years down the line. People will look back then and see what he has been building.”
