Rangers are not alone in the race for Hearts defender John Souttar as bitter rivals Celtic have now joined the scramble for his signature.
What a comeback from Souttar.
The defender has enjoyed a myriad of injury woes over the years. Souttar would have been forgiven for thinking he was somewhat cursed.
Yet right now, the 25-year-old is riding high. Souttar is fit and healthy, starring for Hearts and even starting for Scotland.
In last week’s rousing 2-0 win over Denmark, Souttar bagged an emotional opening goal.
It’s one thing to consign those injury woes to the past, it’s another to shine for your country.
Hearts now risk losing Souttar though, with Celtic and Rangers vying for his signature on a free transfer.
Celtic join Rangers in Souttar chase
The Scottish Sun claim that Souttar is out of contract at the end of May. That means he is able to sign a pre-contract agreement from December 1st – a month earlier than first thought.
Souttar may now just be days away from committing to a Hearts exit. Boss Robbie Neilson hasn’t sounded too confident about a new contract.

Nine – yes, nine – English Championship clubs want Souttar. Rangers and Celtic fancy keeping Souttar in Scotland, luring him to Glasgow in the process.
You can understand both Old Firm sides being keen.
Cameron Carter-Vickers is only on loan from Tottenham whilst Connor Goldson’s Rangers deal is expiring very soon.
Souttar is cheap and knows the Scottish Premiership inside out. Hailed as ‘incredible’ by Kyle Lafferty, Souttar seems to be liked by everybody.
If those injuries can stay away. Souttar could be a huge bargain for anybody.
Celtic will now fight Rangers for a deal, with Souttar finding himself a man in demand – something he may not have predicted just a few months ago.
