The Wolverhampton Wanderers man has been in superb form this term.
Wolves stopper John Ruddy sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, and raved about the quality of teammate Conor Coady, labelling the centre-back as ‘top drawer’.
The 24-year-old joined Wolves from Huddersfield in the summer of 2015, for a fee believed to be in the region of £2 million.
He arrived at Molineux as a defensive midfielder, but when Nuno took over in the summer of 2017, he converted Coady into a ball-playing centre-half – a decision that has proved to be an extremely astute one.
Ruddy raved about Coady, when speaking to the Express & Star, and praised his manager for having the foresight to move him into central defence at the start of the campaign:
“I think he’s been top drawer. To try and make a player adapt to a new position when he’s never played there before is something the manager’s obviously made him feel comfortable with the idea of it, but it’s also testament to his character and his personality that he’s willing to do what he’s been asked to do.”
Nuno’s men have the best defensive record in the division this season, having conceded just 24 goals in 32 outings thus far, and Coady’s displays have proved to be a major contributing factor to that.
Wolves welcome Norwich City to Molineux in the Championship tonight, and they will be looking to cement their position at the top of the table with another three points.
