The Wolverhampton Wanderers owners are fiercely ambitious.
Wolves ace John Ruddy sat down for an exclusive interview with the Express & Star, and made the bold prediction that Wolves could be a major force in Europe within the next 10 or 15 years.
The Black Country outfit have been superb in the Championship this season, and currently sit six points clear of Cardiff City at the top of the table.
They are, perhaps more importantly, 13 points ahead of third placed Fulham, and promotion back to the Premier League is seemingly a case of when and not if.
Ruddy himself has played a key role in Wolves’ fine campaign thus far, after moving to Molineux on a free transfer in the summer of 2017, despite some shaky displays of late.
The 31-year-old spoke exclusively to the Express & Star, and shared his excitement at being involved with such an ambitious project:
“It’s exciting and it’s the reason I joined the club in the summer. The way they set out what they’re trying to achieve in the short term was exciting enough but going forward in the long term as Wolves player at the moment it’s really good. And in 10 or 15 years’ time this could be a massive force within European football. I said it when I joined – the owners have bought this club with a view to long term success.”
The only thing that the Wolves players will be focusing on at the moment, though, is gaining promotion back to the Premier League this season, and they are on course to achieve just that, what with the huge advantage that they currently hold over third and fourth placed Fulham and Aston Villa in the table.
