Sunderland defender John O’Shea has told the club’s official website that the energy Duncan Watmore brings to the side is crucial for them moving forward.
The young forward has been something of a bright spark for the Black Cats in what has been a dismal start to the campaign.
Watmore was a key player over the weekend, as his superb solo run and excellent pull-back set up Patrick van Aanholt to fire home an equaliser against West Bromwich Albion.

It was a crucial moment for his side and ensured they at least took a point from the Premier League game.
Watmore is fast establishing himself as a key player in David Moyes’s team, and O’Shea has told the club’s official website that one aspect of his play is crucial to them.
“Duncan’s energy is very important for us in the team at the minute and that is going to be crucial for us going forward,” he told he club’s official website.
“A lot of the lads feed on it and the positive energy he has around the place, not just on the pitch. He is a fantastic lad and he is going to go from strength to strength.”
Sunderland’s Duncan Watmore celebrates
One strength that Sunderland will be desperate for Watmore to add to his repertoire will be goalscoring.
Just like last season, the Black Cats are heavily reliant on Jermain Defoe to bag their goals this season and it is far from an ideal situation.
Watmore has only managed three goals in 30 appearances so far, and that is something they need him to improve quickly if they are to survive again.
