Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with Jack Grealish in the summer transfer window, and John McGinn’s latest comments in The Daily Mail on his Aston Villa teammate will only strengthen their determination to sign the attacking midfielder.

According to The Mirror, Tottenham are interested in signing Grealish from Villa this summer.

The 23-year-old is reported to have a £60 million buyout clause in his contract and earns £70,000 per week as salary.

The report has claimed that Spurs wanted to sign the attacking midfielder back in the summer of 2018.

Grealish, who can also operate as a midfielder, has been superb for Villa in the Championship this season despite his injury problems.

According to WhoScored, the 23-year-old has scored six goals and provided seven assists in 33 Championship appearances for the Villans this season.

The youngster has been instrumental in Villa reaching the Championship playoff final, where they will face Derby County for a place in the Premier League next season.

McGinn joined Villa in the summer of 2018, and the 24-year-old Scotland international midfielder believes that Grealish is the best player in the Championship.

McGinn told The Daily Mail about Grealish: “Jack is one of he best I’ve played with. He’s comfortably the best in the Championship – he just glides with the ball. He definitely helps me because he’s man-marked so I get free rein to run about!

“Everyone has the perception he’s some sort of bad boy but he’s a hard worker and been a great leader (as captain) over the past couple of months. I think he was unlucky not to be in the last England squad.”
