The Aston Villa midfielder is in it for the long haul it seems.

If Saturday is anything to go by, Aston Villa man John McGinn’s stock could rise in a big way this season.
Less than 10 minutes into his Premier League debut, McGinn fired the newly-promoted side into a 1-0 lead away at Tottenham Hotspur, a team that nearly won the Champions League last season.
It was the stuff of fairytales for the Scotland international and you can see why Aston Villa slapped a £50 million asking price on him in May, amid reported interest from Manchester United [The Sun].
Some Aston Villa fans could be forgiven for wondering whether they can keep the 24-year-old long term, but McGinn’s latest comments will fill their hearts with pride.
Speaking to The Birmingham Mail, the former Hibernian star insists that he’s loving life in the Premier League so far and wants to stay for many years – and added that he wants to stay in the West Midlands.
He said: “It has been a long journey for me to get here but I am finally here now and I don’t want to leave. I want to stay here, and I want to stay here with Villa.
“The games coming up are so important and we will be working ever so hard to get results.”
McGinn will know that his profile will spike if he carries on in the same vein, but the fact that he’s committed to Aston Villa speaks volumes for him as a footballer and as a man.
