John McGinn has been linked with Celtic in the past, and recently played alongside two of the Hoops’ midfielders for the national team.

McGinn got on in the 82nd minute at Hampden Park, which presented him with the chance to link up with Armstrong and McGregor, who had both been brought on shortly before the hour mark in the 1-0 defeat.

The trio looked bright as Scotland pushed for an equaliser, and McGinn insisted that he enjoys working with the Hoops duo for the national side.
“We have played together a few times now and it just feels quite natural,” he said, as reported by the Daily Record. “We’ve got a lot of energy between us, we try to get on the ball and make things happen.

“It’s up to the manager who he picks and we respect the fact he wants to look at different options. But in the second half against Costa Rica you saw the energy that Stu and Cal brought. I tried to add to it in the last part of the game. We’re all different. Cal picks a brilliant final ball, Stu is all energy and tidy on the ball – I feel like I can influence the game by being a bit more unorthodox.”
While McGinn was speaking about Scotland, it will not have been forgotten by Celtic fans that he was a target for Brendan Rodgers during the January transfer window, as reported by the Daily Mail.
McGinn has been one of the Scottish Premiership’s most impressive performers this season – certainly amongst those players not currently representing an Old Firm side – and it appears, from the outside, only a matter of time before Hibs feel forced to sell him.
So perhaps Celtic would have taken notice of McGinn’s cameo alongside Armstrong and McGregor, and perhaps also taken note of his subsequent comments on the blossoming understanding between the three, and have started to think about whether it would be a smart move to reignite their interest in the summer.
